Baseball caps entered the land of China along with baseball. The earliest record of Chinese playing baseball was when the Chinese engineer Zhan Tianyou was studying at Yale University (1877-1881) and organized the Chinese baseball team, and later returned from the United States and Japan. Of overseas Chinese and overseas students brought baseball back to their motherland.
In 1895, a baseball team was established in Beijing Huishuyuan. In 1907, Beijing Huishu Academy competed against Tongzhou Xiehe Academy. This is the earliest baseball game in China. Since 1913, the Far East Games, initiated by China, Japan, and the Philippines, has had baseball games in all previous years, and China has sent teams to participate many times. The Chinese Games before the founding of the People's Republic of China also had baseball games, and most of the participants were students.
During the Anti-Japanese War, the Eighth Route Army carried out baseball in the anti-Japanese base areas such as northern Shaanxi and Jinchaji. But at that time baseball was only a rare sport, and not all athletes wore baseball caps. Because of the limited conditions, it was even more impossible to popularize it among the masses.
In 1952, there was a baseball game in the First Military Games of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In 1959, at the first National Games, baseball was listed as an official event, with 23 provincial and municipal teams participating, and the Beijing team won the championship. In 1975, at the Third National Games, the preliminary and final baseball games were held in Luda and Beijing. The first team was named Tianjin. In the 4th National Games of 1979, 14 provincial and municipal teams participated in the baseball game, and the champion was the Beijing team. In September 1975, Japan's Aichi University baseball team came to China for a visit to China, and China started international exchanges in baseball.
In August 1976, the baseball team of Hosei University of Japan visited. The Chinese Baseball and Softball Association was established in 1979, and various provinces and cities have successively established branches. At this time, baseball players really wore baseball caps that symbolized baseball. Since then, baseball caps have penetrated into the lives of Chinese people. Everyone has the right to wear baseball caps, and ordinary people have also brought baseballs. Caps and baseball caps have also been made into different styles.
